A 15-year-old boy battling leukemia got a surprise of a lifetime this week when the Philadelphia Eagles offered him a contract to join his favorite team for a day.
On a special “Together We Make Football” segment that aired Friday on NBC's "Today," Colin Delaney, who has been diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia, was presented with the contract and his very own jersey.
The teen has also been invited to sit behind the Eagles' bench for the team’s Sunday night game against the New York Giants.
This wasn’t the first time this year the Eagles have offered their encouragement to Delaney.
The young man and his friends were recently invited to the NovaCare Complex for a game of flag football, according to the Eagles website. What Delaney didn’t know, however, was that quarterback Nick Foles and his favorite player, running back LeSean McCoy, would surprise him by showing up mid-way through the game.
“Best day ever,” Delaney said of the experience.
