'Transparent' Associate Producer Rhys Ersnt Talks Advising The Series On Trans Issues

Meet One Of The Trans Consultants Who Helped Make 'Transparent' An Authentic Hit

"Transparent" is not only the best new television series to premiere this year; it's also exposing complicated issues of gender and sexuality to a mainstream audience. To achieve such a trans-positive show, creator Jill Soloway stocked her staff with transgender cast and crew to keep the series truthful, and that includes associate producer Rhys Ernst and his collaborator Zachary Drucker.

Ernst joined HuffPost Live's Spoiler Alert on Friday to discuss advising "Transparent" during its first season. Check out the video above to see Ernst discuss his work on the show, including taking Jeffrey Tambor to a bar dressed up as his trans character for the first time and why the writers changed their minds about including a cross-dresser camp in the first season.
