Swift has described the song, which she wrote and recorded with Jack Antonoff of fun. and Bleachers fame, as a way of dealing with the "fragility" of relationships.

"This was a relationship where I was kind of, living day to day, wondering where it was going, if it was going to go anywhere, if it was going to end the next day," she said.

A recent Rolling Stone profile of Swift also discussed "Out of the Woods," which seems to be about Harry Styles. According to Rolling Stone, Swift said it was inspired by a snowmobile accident with an ex.

Taylor Swift's "1989" is out Oct. 27 via Big Machine.
