10-Year-Old Boy With Terminal Cancer Made Police Chief For A Day

A big dream of a 10-year-old Indian boy who has terminal cancer was fulfilled this week when he was given the opportunity to serve as the police commissioner of a major city for one whole day.

According to the Hindustan Times, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Mahendar Reddy gladly stepped aside on Wednesday so that the boy, named Sadiq, could temporarily take his place.

Wearing an official khaki-colored uniform and waving a baton, the boy — who harbors a wish of becoming a police chief one day — occupied the police commissioner’s office, “signed” some official documents, mingled with senior police officials and even addressed a press conference.

“I want to maintain peace and catch rowdies,” Sadiq told the gathered reporters, according to New Delhi Television.

Hyderabad is one of India’s largest cities, and has a population of approximately 8 million.

Sadiq’s wish was granted thanks in part to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, reports the India Times.
