Jada Pinkett Smith snagged her role in Fox's "Gotham" by going method for the audition. As noted by Vulture, Pinkett Smith spoke at the "Gotham" panel at PaleyFest on Saturday about the first time she met executive producer Danny Cannon. She wore a long gown with her character's now-signature wig -- and had a young, shirtless man on a leash in tow. The gentleman had the word "Liar" written on his forehead in lipstick.

"I said, 'Forget it, instead of talking about who Fish Mooney is, let me just show you,'" said Pinkett Smith. "I went Method."

Catch Pinkett Smith on "Gotham," Mondays at 8 p.m. on Fox. For more from the "Gotham" panel, head to Vulture.
