Teen Mom Gave Son To Heroin User So She Could Live 'Normal' Life: Cops

An 18-year-old mother in Missouri allegedly gave her toddler to a known heroin user so she could be more like a “normal teenager.”

Desiree Cozzoni, of St. Charles, was arrested earlier this month but released on bail October 14, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported

In the past, Cozzoni had often stayed with a female heroin user who police say had bought and used heroin in the presence of Cozzoni and her 1-year-old son. This month, Cozzoni allegedly signed over the custody of her son to the woman using non-legal documents.

"She wrote up her own informal custody papers and indicated she was giving custody away to this other individual,” St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney Tim Lohma told KTVI.

Court documents state that Cozzoni did so because she “wanted to live the life of a normal teenager.”

The teen mother allegedly then told cops her son had been kidnapped, but then admitted she had given the boy away.

She’s facing charges of endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and making a false report, according to KMOV.
