UPDATE: The man suspected of fatally shooting two deputies in northern California and shooting another officer and a civilian was apprehended following a manhunt on Friday night, Ian Schwartz of CBS Sacramento reported.

Marcello Marquez was apprehended in Sacramento, Calif., after allegedly shooting three officers and a carjacking victim on Friday morning, police said. Marquez was described as a Hispanic male in his 30s.

By late Friday afternoon, a deputy from Sacramento County and another from Placer County were reported dead. The Placer County Sheriff's Office identified Det. Michael David Davis Jr. as the officer killed from the department. The veteran officer was about to celebrate his 43rd birthday. He is survived by a wife and four children.

The shootings began at 10:30 a.m. A Sacramento sheriff's deputy approached a suspicious vehicle in a Motel 6 parking lot when he was shot, according to KPCC. A man and woman were allegedly in the car.

"The person who was inside of the vehicle shot rounds at the officer," Sgt. Lisa Bowman told UT San Diego. She later said that "at least one shot was fired at our deputy, striking him at least one time."

The suspects then fled, shooting one person in a carjacking and fleeing in a truck. Prior to that, the man and woman carjacked a white Mustang that was later abandoned.

There were also reports of two officers being shot at 12:20 p.m. in Auburn, California. Police believe the shootings are related to the previous incident, CBS Sacramento reported.

The woman with the alleged assailant has been taken into police custody.

Authorities said at one point the pair parked the vehicle and changed clothing, the Associated Press reported.

The condition of the deputies and bystander are currently unknown.

This is a developing story.
