Tadelech Yohanis Missing: Nun Vanishes In New York City

Ethiopian Nun Disappears In Manhattan

Authorities in New York are trying to locate a visiting nun who disappeared from a Manhattan convent days before she was scheduled to return home to Ethiopia.

According to the New York City Police Department, Sister Tadelech Yohanis, 30, was last seen Thursday afternoon, at the Sacred Heart Convent on the Lower East Side

Yohanis, who arrived in the United States on October 6, left her passport at the convent and missed her Sunday return flight to Ethiopia, police said.

"We're concerned about the sister and we’re working with the local police on this matter," a receptionist at the Sacred Heart Convent told The Huffington Post on Tuesday.

"I have no other information for you," the receptionist added.

Yohanis is described as 5-feet-9, 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to contact NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-8477 or online, at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
