'Thriller' Flash Mob Makes Perfect Addition To Halloween-Themed Baseball Game

This Was One 'Thriller' Of A Baseball Game

As far as baseball games go, this one was a thriller.

San Diego State University's baseball team hosted its annual Halloween game Sunday, with costumed players competing in an intrasquad game.

But things got fiendishly fun when the contest erupted in a flash mob performing Michael Jackson's "Thriller."

The school's dance team, band and other athletes completed the ensemble, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

Tony Gwynn, the former San Diego State baseball coach and Major League Baseball Hall of Famer who died in June, began the Halloween game tradition, the paper noted. He also happened to be a fan of the King of Pop.

“That was a little shout out to Coach Gwynn,” coach Mike Martinez told the outlet.

Video from the San Diego State University Athletics Department shows players dressed up in a variety of costumes. There was Gumby, Donald Duck and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from "Ghostbusters."

SB Nation noted that last year some players dressed as the Jamaican bobsled team.
