New Disney World Ride Catches Fire

The new Disney World "Seven Dwarfs Mine Train" attraction caught fire on Saturday night, officials said. People on the ride were evacuated, and no injuries had been reported, according to WGHP. Photos from the scene showed fire crews working to extinguish the fire, and Disney World officials later confirmed the fire was out, the Orlando Sentinel reported. The extent of the damage was unknown.

The fire was first reported at approximately 10:20 p.m. ET, according to WGHP.. Eyewitnesses said it had been extinguished by 11 p.m. and the ride reopened around midnight, officials said. A call to the Reedy Creek Improvement District emergency services, which oversees the area including Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., went unanswered.

Attractions Magazine reported the fire was likely "caused by fireworks."

The ride opened on May 28, as part of the New FantasyLand expansion at Disney World.

Reports of the fire first emerged on Twitter and Instagram. A video from the scene shows flames leaping into the night sky.
