Rep. Adrian Smith (R-Neb.) defeated Democrat Mark Sullivan in the state's 3rd District Tuesday.
Smith, who formerly served in the Nebraska state Senate, was first elected to Congress in 2010.
The race between Sullivan and Smith was a re-match, as the Democrat also challenged Smith in 2012.
