Brian Herr was defeated by incumbent Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) Tuesday in his bid to represent Massachusetts in the U.S. Senate.
Herr, who works in commercial construction, ran unopposed in the Republican primary.
Markey is a junior senator, having joined the upper chamber in 2013.
