Ben Sasse Defeats Dave Domina In Nebraska Senate Race

Republican Ben Sasse resoundingly defeated Democrat Dave Domina in Nebraska's Senate contest Tuesday.

The candidates were vying to succeed Sen. Mike Johanns (R-Neb.), who is retiring.

Sasse, who is the president of Midland University in Fremont, was considered the overwhelming favorite heading into the general election, and so national attention focused on Senate races elsewhere. He beat former state treasurer Shane Osborn and businessman Sid Dinsdale in the Republican primary earlier this year, with the help of conservative groups like the Club for Growth, the Tea Party Patriots, the Senate Conservatives Fund and FreedomWorks.

Domina, who is a trial lawyer, defeated Larry Marvin in the Democratic primary.
