Independent Angus King Will Continue To Caucus With Senate Democrats

Sen. Angus King (I-ME) said Wednesday that he would continue to caucus with Democrats in the Senate minority.

"I think it's in Maine's interests to have a senator in each camp," King said in a press conference in Brunswick. "Nothing can or will happen without bipartisan support.”

Maine's other senator, Susan Collins, is a Republican.

King suggested earlier this year that he would be open to siding with Republicans if they retook control of the Senate, as they did in Tuesday's blowout midterm election. But the Maine Independent is more ideologically aligned with Democrats, however. Per a 2013 National Journal rating, King's voting record makes him more a more reliable Democratic vote than 11 other Senate Democrats.
