Ann Callis Defeated In Illinois House Race

Democrat Ann Callis lost to Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) in Illinois' 13th congressional district on Tuesday.

The race was one of the most competitive in the state. Davis narrowly won his seat in 2012, and was seen as a vulnerable incumbent after the boundaries of the district were redrawn to include more Democratic voters.

The race was also filled with attack ads, as Callis -- the former chief judge of Illinois' Third Judicial Circut -- accused Davis in an ad of spending $40,000 at steakhouses to wine and dine Washington, D.C. elites. Davis, in turn, accused her of being a resident of Missouri and failing to pay property taxes on time.
