Bill Enyart Defeated In Illinois House Race

Rep. Bill Enyart (D-Ill) lost to state Rep. Mike Bost (R) in Illinois' 12th congressional district on Tuesday.

The race drew the attention of both the DCCC and the NRCC and was one of the most competitive in the state. Enyart was a member of the DCCC's Frontline program, which helps vulnerable Democrats defend their seats. Bost was a member of the RNCC's "On the Radar" program, which gave him resources to run a competitive campaign.

Enyart earned the endorsement of the Chicago Tribune editorial board, which praised his efforts to adopt a universal camouflage uniform for the military, which they said would save the federal government tens of millions of dollars.

Bost gained attention when video of him throwing a tantrum on the floor of the Illinois House spread online. Democrats used footage of Bost's meltdown in campaign ads against him, a move that Bost said only helped his electoral chances.
