Republican Chris Mitchum has lost his attempt to unseat Rep. Lois Capps (D-Calif.) in California's 24th Congressional District.
Mitchum, an actor and former vice president of the Screen Actors Guild, also challenged Capps in 2012.
Capps has represented the area since 1998, when she was elected to take her late husband's place in Congress. Her husband, Walter Capps, died of a heart attack in 1997, one year after his election to the House.
