This Millionaire Wakes Up At 5 A.M. To Pick Up Trash Around Town

Wealth and selflessness don't have to be mutually exclusive -- just ask Yo.

The millionaire investor from South Korea who lives in Bahrain wakes up every morning around 5 a.m. to pick up trash and sort recyclables in his city, according to a video directed and posted on YouTube by Omar Varov. Yo -- who joked his last name is "The Boss Of Cleaning" -- has been doing his part to keep the earth cleaner and safer for his community for 11 years.

"There is a lot of garbage," Yo told Varov through a translator in the video. "And this makes people sick. It causes problems."

Yo's commitment to keep Bahrain clean is a cause worth fighting for, as the Gulf nation surpasses many industrialized countries in terms of per-capita waste generation, according to Gulf Daily News. Bahrain's municipal and urban affairs minister told the news source in 2011 that the country produces about 2,200 tons of municipal waste, 7 tons of healthcare waste and 380 tons of industrial waste every day.

Varov -- who has thousands of followers on YouTube -- said he was contacted by a journalist who told him there was an "unusual situation" he needed to see, but he'd have to wake up at dawn to get the coverage. Varov agreed, and discovered Yo in a city parking lot collecting bags of trash and sorting recyclables.

"Today he is an example of simplicity, modesty and beautiful presence," Younis, who joined Varov during filming, said in the video. "You are truly a role model to youth."
