Katha Pollitt On What Women Must Do Before 2016

What We Must Do Before 2016 To Get Women's Issues On Top Of The Agenda

What should women be doing before the next general election to ensure that the issues that matter to them are addressed in 2016?

Katha Pollitt, journalist and author of Pro: Reclaiming Abortion Rights joined activist and attorney Ifeoma Ike and host Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani on HuffPost Live to discuss what women can do to make their voices heard -- not just when it comes to reproductive rights and equal pay, but all the issues that affect women.

Broad rhapsodizing about the importance of women's issues at the national level doesn't target the serious threats to rights and equality, Pollitt said. "It's not good enough to, every two years, put up a candidate. We have to rebuild our local, grassroots organizations," she continued.

Ike also touched on the importance of education, making sure that voters know exactly what's at stake.

"We need to find creative ways so that more people can be a part of the decision-making and the accountability process."
