MTV 'Challenge' Star Diem Brown Dead At 34 Following Cancer Battle

MTV 'Challenge' Star Diem Brown Dies At 32

Diem Brown, who was known for her appearances on MTV's "The Challenge," died on Friday at 34 years old, People confirmed. Brown had been diagnosed with cancer for the third time this past summer.

Brown had recently been asking fans for support, advice and prayers via her Twitter account. "Whatever option I have to LIVE I'm grabbing!" she wrote on Tuesday. She had previously beat ovarian cancer in 2006 and 2012.

"I didn't understand, really, that it could come back again," she told Dr. Drew 2012, when she received her second diagnosis. "Finding out you have it a second time, it's like, 'I've already done this, I thought I was over it.'" In 2013 she went into remission, but in August 2014, she announced that she had been diagnosed with colon cancer

The reality star from Georgia made her first "Challenge" appearance on "Fresh Meat" in 2006 and revealed on the show that she was battling ovarian cancer. She returned for another season, "The Duel," and during an intimate moment, she removed her wig in front of her fellow competitors. Her on-again-off-again relationship with Chris "CT" Tamburello was one of the series' greatest love stories and plot lines. She also appeared on "The Gauntlet III," "The Duel 2," "The Ruins" and "Battle of the Exes."

"MTV is tremendously sad to hear the news that Diem Brown has lost her long battle with cancer," the network said in a statement. "We send our deepest condolences to her family and friends. Diem was a true fighter and brought passion to everything she touched. We will miss her."

Brown spoke about her illnesses in public often, and was a frequent blogger for People.com, where she once filmed her hair loss. Brown also created MedGift, a gift registry website that helped patients gain financial support. "Cancer has changed who I am," she told People this summer. "It sounds like a cliché, but I've only got this one life, and I need to live every day to the fullest. I'm a lot more appreciative of things now."
