One-Handed Florida Freshman Takes Court For The First Time

University of Florida freshman Zach Hodskins made his college basketball debut on Friday (Nov. 14), realizing a dream of his own and likely inspiring others.

Despite being born without the bottom half of his left arm, he was a successful high school player at Milton High School in Georgia. The college freshman took the court for the final two minutes of Florida's game against William & Mary. He took one shot attempt -- a running layup, which he missed -- but Florida still had a 68-45 victory.

The Florida Gators tweeted out a photo of Hodskins talking to the press after game:

He also spoke to the The Independent Florida Alligator, Florida's daily student newspaper. “I’ve always dreamed of being here, and tonight I feel like I fulfilled that dream and now I’m just gonna take the next step forward,” he said. “… It didn’t really matter (if I played tonight or not), I was hoping I would, I’m glad I did but I’m glad that my teammates played well."
