New Portrait Shows Obama Like You've Never Seen Him Before

The University of Southern California's Institute for Creative Technologies is partnering with the Smithsonian Institution to create a 3-D presidential portrait of President Barack Obama.

The intricate process required the president to sit in front of a state-of-the-art system with custom-built LED lights and high resolution sports photography cameras to capture the many details of the human face.

Paul Debevec, chief visual officer at the Institute for Creative Technologies, called the first-of-its-kind technique "almost certainly the highest resolution digital model that's ever been made of a head of state."
