Darren Wilson Being Guarded By Off-Duty Cops

Last week, a grand jury decided Darren Wilson should not face charges for killing unarmed 18-year-old Michael Brown. But Wilson's own safety remains a pressing concern for the 28-year-old.

CNN reports that Wilson is now relying on off-duty officers from the Fraternal Order of Police who have volunteered their time to help keep him safe.

FOP spokesperson Jim Pasco told CNN the officers "had to" protect Wilson because Ferguson Police were "unwilling or unable."

Ferguson Police did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Huffington Post.

Pasco said his members would continue to guard Wilson for "as long as we have to."

Wilson recently resigned, without pension, from the department.

He also told ABC's George Stephanopoulos he has a "clean conscience" and that he did nothing wrong.

"I don’t think it’s haunting," Wilson said of killing Brown. "It’s always going to be something that happened. The reason I have a clean conscience is because I know I did my job right.
