Michele Bachmann Bids Farewell To Congress

After four terms in office, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) is bidding farewell to Congress.

Bachmann announced her decision to leave Congress after this term in May 2013, concluding that eight years in the post was enough for her.

"The law limits anyone from serving as president of the United States for more than eight years, and in my opinion, well, eight years is also long enough for an individual to serve as a representative for a specific Congressional district," Bachmann said.

In an interview with the Associated Press earlier this week, Bachmann said that while she may be leaving Congress, she has no intention to leave politics and hopes to play a role in the 2016 presidential campaign.

"I occupy a very unique space," she said. "I am the only woman who has been in presidential debates on the Republican ticket."

On Tuesday, Bachmann gave her final speech on the House floor.
