Rob James-Collier: George Clooney Would Have To Audition To Be A 'Downton Abbey' Regular

George Clooney Couldn't Get On 'Downton' Without An Audition

George Clooney caused quite a stir when he stopped by the "Downton Abbey" set to film the show's charity special, actor Rob James-Collier said in a HuffPost Live interview on Monday.

"He came in for a day and was super charismatic. I've never seen so many women on the set that shouldn't have been there in my life," said James-Collier, who plays the devious under butler, Thomas Barrow, on the show.

But if Clooney is interested in snagging a role as full-time cast member, the actor said writer Julian Fellowes would make him work for it. While James-Collier did say he had a role in mind for Clooney -- as Lady Grantham’s "drinking," "womanizing" brother -- the "Downton Abbey" actor insisted Clooney would be held to a high bar.

"I’m pretty sure we'd have him. I mean, we'd audition him first, and if he was good enough, we'd consider taking him on board," he joked. "He’s not going to get offered it. You have to earn it first, you know what I mean?"
