Alex Burns Leaves Politico

NEW YORK -- Alex Burns, a senior political reporter for Politico, has quietly left the news organization, according to sources familiar with the move.

Burns, who joined Politico straight from Harvard in 2008, was one of the news organization's longest serving reporters and best-known writers.

Burns did not immediately respond to a request for comment. A Politico spokeswoman declined to comment.

Burns has recently been in talks with The New York Times about a New York-based position covering city and state politics, the sources said.

Two other prominent Politico staffers announced on Monday that they were leaving the politics and policy juggernaut.

White House editor Dan Berman, who worked at Politico for four and a half years, has joined National Journal as an assistant managing editor. And deputy managing editor Gregg Birnbaum announced he was leaving after four years, but did not elaborate on his next move.
