How To Make Chewy Candy And Find Your Inner Hulk

Find your inner Hulk.

There aren't many people out there who make their own candy at home. Plenty of us eat lots of it -- bought from the store of course -- but very few of us go through the trouble of making our own batch. Why? Because it's pretty dang hard. Literally. The reason that candy is so wonderfully chewy is because it has been stretched. And stretched. And stretched. AND STRETCHED. And candy doesn't really like to be stretched, so it resists.

While most commercial candy manufacturers have machines that make stretching happen without breaking a sweat (like this one), if you're a one-man show in a home kitchen, chances are you don't have a candy puller sitting on your counter. But that doesn't mean you can't make your own candy, it just means you have to get ready for a workout. A really great, upper-body, muscle-building workout. And, you have to summon up some Hulk-like strength.

If you ask us, candy making is the greatest reason we've heard in a long time to get active. Watch the video above made by Chef Steps and see how you can make your own candy -- and how all that stretching can help you find your inner Hulk.
