Man Allegedly Throws Pipe Bombs At Police, Escapes During Chase

Authorities in Oregon are searching for a suspect who they say threw four pipe bombs while fleeing from police.

Neal Allen Panschow, 43, sped off in a silver 2002 Honda Civic when police in Portland matched the car's license plate to an active warrant at about 4:40 p.m. on Tuesday , NBC News reports.

Police say that as Panschow evaded officers, he tossed pipe bombs, but they did not explode. Authorities called off the pursuit when the suspect threw the explosive devices, according to KATU.

"I heard sirens, lots of sirens," neighbor Joe Reed told KGW. "This is the first time we've had an incident like this."

According to the Portland Police:

The suspected driver of the vehicle is 43-year-old Neal Allen Panschow, a white male, 5'10" tall, 170 pounds. Panschow has an active warrant from Tillamook County and investigators believe he has been driving the vehicle for the past few days and has led police on three pursuits in Clackamas and Multnomah Counties.

Panschow should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.
