71-Year-Old Man Arrested 22 Years After Prison Escape

A 71-year-old man convicted on theft charges in 1991 has been arrested 22 years after he broke out of prison.

Roger Perdue, who escaped from a correctional facility in Ohio, was recently discovered living with his wife in Kokomo, Indiana, WLWT reports.

Authorities with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said that they received a tip regarding the whereabouts of Perdue, who fled his work detail in March of 1992. Perdue was in his fifth month of a five-and-a-half year sentence for grand theft, according to WBNS.

On the evening of Dec. 12, investigators received information that Perdue was living in Kokomo but planning to leave. When confronted by Indiana State Police and Kokomo Police officers at the home, he allegedly revealed his identity and turned himself over to police custody.

Perdue was being held at London Correctional Institution pending extradition to Ohio.
