For the past six years, craft-enthusiast Eric Erickson has celebrated the holiday season with a themed photo series called "12 Days of Christmas." When choosing this year's theme, he decided to join the Elf on the Shelf craze -- Erickson used an Elf on the Shelf to recreate scenes from classic and contemporary TV shows.
The result is a TV-lover's holiday goldmine. From "Downton Abbey" to "I Love Lucy" to "Orange Is the New Black," the shows represent a variety of genres and eras in television.
While Erickson doesn't have any children of his own, he is "Uncle Eric" to many nieces, nephews, and friends' kids, he told The Huffington Post. The little ones in his life indirectly helped him with his Elf project, he explained. "When I decided to do Elf not he Shelf, I was just going to buy 6 or 7 of them to play all the different characters," Erickson said. "I had no idea they were $30 each! So I went into our stash of toys we have for the nieces and nephews to play with -- that's where I found the toys to play the supporting characters."
Erickson hopes his Elf on the Shelf scenes will bring smile to viewers' faces and possibly help out some Elf-loving families as the holiday season winds down. "I have seen some posts where parents are running out of Elf ideas," he said, adding, "So perhaps I can give them some inspiration for new and entertaining ideas."
Looking at Erickson's creative images below, we certainly think so.
