Trent Cook Missing: Armored Truck Driver's Family Says 'He Had Nothing To Do With This'

Missing Armored Truck Driver's Family: 'He Had Nothing To Do With This'

The family of a missing armored truck driver in Texas, whose empty vehicle was found abandoned on Monday, say he's not involved in his disappearance or the removal of the truck's contents.

"There is speculation that he’s involved in this, but his mom and I are steadfast in our belief that he had nothing to do with this and was an unwilling participant," Bill Wills, the missing man's stepfather, told The Huffington Post.

Wills' stepson, Trent Michael Cook, 34, of Amarillo, has not been seen since Monday morning -- the same day police say the Rochester Armored Car Co. Inc. vehicle he had been driving was found parked in an Amarillo alley, with its engine running.

Authorities have yet to release what the armored vehicle was hauling prior to its discovery.

"The contents of the vehicle are missing, but no one has said what was exactly in the vehicle yet," Sgt. Brent Barbee with the Amarillo Police Department told HuffPost.

The officer added, "It's not common for the armored car companies to release information like that."

Wills said his stepson, a former reservist in the U.S. Army, had recently left a job with an Amarillo correctional facility to work for the armored car company.

"He's a very intelligent young man," said Wills. "He's strong willed, loves his family and is very goal oriented."

The distraught stepdad said there is no indication that anything is missing from his stepson's home, which would suggest he had not planned to take off. He also said calls to the young man's cellphone go directly to voicemail.

"Trent would not be a willing partner in this," Wills said. "We need some kind of answers because there's a multitude of questions."

According to Barbee, the investigation is ongoing and Cook has not been accused of any wrongdoing.

"Right now we consider him missing and endangered," Barbee said.

Cook is described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighs 165 pounds, and has blond hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing a company uniform.

"Somebody out there knows something," said Wills. "That's always the case. We just have to figure out who knows what, track it down and hopefully get the results that we want."

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Trent Michael Cook is asked to contact the Amarillo Police Department at (806) 378-3038 or Amarillo Crime Stoppers at (806) 374-4400.
