At some point, almost every teen gets embarrassed by her mother. But according to 18-year-old Abbie, her mom’s public display of inappropriate behavior is so “disgusting” that she can barely stand to be around her.
“My mom dresses like a 16-year-old. She loves to show skin,” the teen says, adding that her mom also posts questionable pictures to social networking sites. “She posted a picture of her on a stripper pole. My mom posted a picture of a bunch of drinks on a table and her caption was: I might not have my underwear, but I do have my martinis. It’s wrong, and it’s disgusting, and I don’t like it.”
Abbie says her issues go beyond her mother’s posts on social media. The teen says her mom wasn’t around to take care of her. “My mom did not know how to raise me. She was never home. She was out with her friends or with her husband,” Abbie says. “I never had any boundaries. She never cared what I did. I felt really alone.”
Abbie claims that her mom is self-centered. "She is a narcissist. My mom feeds off drama and chaos ... If my mom doesn’t change, I’m going to have to cut her out of my life.”
