Woman Who Abandoned Her Five Kids Says She's Not A Bad Mom (VIDEO)

Jamie says that after 13 years in a relationship with his girlfriend, Akealia, she walked out on him and their five children, whom she has barely seen in over 2 years. “Akealia has completely abandoned her children,” he says. “It is very clear she wants nothing to do with her own kids.”

Akealia admits that she left her family for a guy she had only known for two weeks because she says she was ready to move on. “I missed most of my childhood. I just wanted more,” she says. “I did not want to say goodbye to my children. I couldn’t deal with the pain it was going to cause them and myself.”

But Akealia says she didn’t abandon her children, and that Jamie is the one who is keeping them from her. “Jamie is holding my children hostage,” she says. “I feel like I am still a very good mother. I would do anything for them. If my children needed me, I would be there for them.”

In the video above, Dr. Phil aims to understand how Akealia doesn’t equate leaving her kids to abandonment. And, he asks her about a disturbing statement she made to her 12-year-old daughter.
