Amy Duggar Confirms Rumors That She Was Born Out Of Wedlock

While studies have found that more babies in the U.S. are being born out of wedlock than ever before, it's not something you'd expect from the Duggar family.

On Tuesday, Amy Duggar, the niece of "19 Kids and Counting" stars Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, confirmed rumors that she was born out of wedlock.

"The tabloids are telling the truth. My mom and dad did have me out of wedlock. Just because we are Christians doesn't make us perfect, it just makes us forgiven," she captioned a photo of herself posing with her parents Deanna Duggar and Terry Jordan. "Just because I share the Duggar name doesn't mean my life is perfect! God knew my uncle would have a hit show and that somehow I would be a part of it."

The 28-year-old aspiring country singer added, "I'm extremely grateful to my mom for choosing to give me life. I'm sure she was scared, young, ridiculed, and felt ashamed. God's grace covered it though! She's beautiful inside and out. I'm also grateful that I have such an awesome relationship with my dad! Seriously he's the greatest! Jesus, thank you for restoring hearts, relationships and families. No matter what you have done, don't think your a second you're alone in this world. Jesus died so that you may be free! John3:16 #prolife."

According to RadarOnline, Amy’s parents didn’t wed until 2006 after many years of dating. And while Amy seems very close to Jordan, it's unclear if he is her biological father.

It's somewhat odd that Amy was forced to confirm rumors this week, as her mother already addressed the issue on a 2009 episode of the TLC reality show.

As for the stars of "19 Kids and Counting," who have incredibly strict courtship rules, Jim Duggar told Radar Online the breach of their beliefs hasn't had an effect on his relationship with this sister. "We enjoy getting together every week," he said.
