A South Carolina teen has been arrested after she allegedly took video of a toddler performing a sex act on her.
Orangeburg County police arrested the 14-year-old female last Thursday after she posted video to Facebook showing the sexual abuse of a 3-year-old, Sheriff Leroy Ravenell told the Times and Democrat.
Multiple phone calls to police tipped off the department as the video circulated online. When confronted by authorities, the teen said she had been inebriated at the time. More from Times and Democrat:
She told investigators she doesn’t remember making a video because "she was intoxicated one night and came home from a party and made the video," the report states. She said she doesn’t "really remember the video because she was drunk." The youth told investigators she then sent the video to her ex-boyfriend.
The teen is now being held at the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia, Greenville Online reported. Ravenell said two other children were taken from the home, including the victim.
"This is a devastating case where an innocent child is being abused and taken advantage of by someone whom the child should have been able to trust," Ravenell said in a statement.
The parents of the teen said they never leave their children home alone, and claimed repeatedly that the 3-year-old had not been sexually abused by the 14-year-old, according to a police report obtained by the Times and Democrat.
The investigation is ongoing.
