Rikers Inmates Stop Prisoner From Raping Guard In Heroic Rescue

Rikers Island inmates helped rescue a female prison guard before she was raped by a convicted sex criminal on Saturday, according to a report by the New York Daily News.

The inmates helped responding correction officers frantically tear away Plexiglas on the outside of the bubble-like watch post inside the Anna M. Kross Center at 8:15 p.m., according to multiple sources.

A skinny inmate slipped inside the so-called “A station” bubble through the small crack and opened the security door. A team of inmates then took down the assailant, Raleek Young, 27, until other officers arrived.

Young pulled down his pants and started choking the guard while he masturbated, court documents said.

The 290 pound inmate is serving a 5-to-10-year sentence for raping a 13-year-old.

Multiple sources told the Daily News that Young entered the watch post after he claimed he needed to get a mattress in another room and had to go through the post to get it.

Correction Officers Benevolent Association President Norman Seabrook confirmed the attack took place and that prisoners helped stop it.

Young faces attempted rape, sexual abuse and other charges.

Last week, Rikers was the site of a massive brawl involving 14 inmates. Seven corrections officers were injured breaking up the fight.

Last year, the Department of Justice released a scathing report detailing the "culture of violence" and corruption that teenage inmates at Rikers must endure.
