When you're a student looking for any excuse to skip homework, snow days are no laughing matter. And that's a source of endless amusement for Mark Boughton, the mayor of Danbury, Connecticut, who announces snow days.
Boughton clearly relishes his authority, and has no trepidation about trolling Danbury-area students on Twitter as to whether or not they'll have school the next day. Tuesday night, it was a thing of beauty. Behold:
"The kids take it tongue in cheek. They understand, because it's sort of a tradition around here," Boughton told CNN, who explained this has been a long-running prank in the community. "We go back and forth. But it's all in good fun."
"I have a very serious policy side," he added, "but I like to have a good chuckle."
Unsurprisingly, Danbury schoolkids love to complain about @MayorMark's antics, which only fuels Boughton's hilarity:

Tuesday night, after Boughton and Danbury Public Schools Superintendent Sal Pascarella reached a decision, @MayorMark informed students they would have class thusly:
Though he added it will be delayed:
Parents looking for a straighter answer on snow days may have more luck on Boughton's Facebook page, which is considerably less withholding.
