OU's Student Leaders Want To Highlight 'Courage' Of Whoever Leaked SAE Video

It has not been a fun week at the University of Oklahoma. Students at OU, however, are doing their best to make the best out of the situation.

Christopher Flix, president of the National Pan-Hellenic Council at OU, joined HuffPost Live on Thursday to chat about the progress some students are trying to make in light of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon racism scandal.

"Overall, there's a lot of tension in the air," Flix said on HuffPost Live. "Basically, as student leaders, what we're trying to do to get people to kind of begin these dialogues and confront these issues head on. We've held a number of peaceful demonstrations that open up a space for people to have these dialogues."

The hoopla started Sunday night when a video of two SAE fraternity members chanting racial slurs surfaced. On Tuesday, the two members were expelled from the university, which led to even more uproar. Flix, however, doesn't want to focus on who the video depicts, but rather who put it online.

"We're also trying to highlight the courage of the individual who sent in the video. Because it's not going to take black people, people who are the targeted group," Flix said. "It's going to take people outside this community that are going to advocate on our behalf and to speak up and speak out for anything to be solved."

Flix added that his organization has gotten a "great responses" from other Greek organizations on campus in light of the trauma.
