Here Are The Places With The Most Bartenders Per Capita

Find out where it's easiest to get a drink.

With St. Patrick's Day festivities set to kick off on Tuesday, one of the most popular drinking days of the year could mean long lines at your local bar. But some cities are more equipped to manage the revelers than others.

The Las Vegas metro area has the highest number of bartenders per capita, according to a recent study by the jobs site CareerBuilder. Sin City has about 5.5 bartenders per 1,000 residents, the study found.

Metro areas with popular nightlife destinations like New Orleans and Boston made the list of the top 11 cities with the highest number of bartenders per capita. A notable exception was the New York metro area where there are only 1.7 bartenders per 1,000 people. (That said, Manhattan has a rather high 7 bartenders per 1,000 people.)

In general, bartenders are more common in northern states than in the South. There are about 580,000 people employed as bartenders across the U.S.

CareerBuilder used data from Economic Modeling Specialists Intl. to create a map showing which cities, counties and states have the most bartenders per 1,000 residents. You can toggle between the three maps in the graphic below. The darker green shades of green indicate an area with a higher density of bartenders.

Here are the metro areas with the most bartenders per capita, according to CareerBuilder.
