Marrakech, Morocco has topped the list of Top Destinations in the World in TripAdvisor's annual Travelers' Choice Awards.
The study took into account millions of TripAdvisor reviews from the past year to determine the top places to travel in 2015, according to spokesperson Julie Cassetina.
Marrakech (or Marrakesh) is an adventure traveler's dream that buzzes with ancient mosques, hidden courtyards and dazzling alleys of outdoor markets. Its Medina, an old-world area of the city, is well over 900 years old and a UNESCO World Heritage Site for good reason.
Visitors spend days getting lost (like, actually lost) in Jemaa el-Fna, the main square with snake charmers and sidewalk henna tattoo artists. Jardin Majorelle -- a villa and garden formerly home to Yves Saint Laurent -- is a calming break from the stunning sensory overload.
You might also take a hot air balloon ride, visit an art gallery or end your day at a splashy dance club.
Marrakech has a number of exotic new hotels, from opulent palaces to laid-back guest homes. The best part? The average rate for a one-night hotel stay is currently just about $88, TripAdvisor found.
For that price, we'll take a trip any day.
