ABC Taps Reena Ninan To Join T.J. Holmes On 'World News Now'

Reena Ninan has been named co-anchor of “America This Morning” and “World News Now,” ABC News president James Goldston announced Wednesday.

Ninan, who is Indian-American, joins T.J. Holmes on the “World News Now” lineup.

“Reena is an accomplished and versatile journalist who has reported around the world and across the U.S.,” Goldston said in a statement.

Ninan was previously a correspondent for ABC News based in Washington, D.C. She was Middle East Correspondent for Fox News from 2007 to 2012.

Golston’s full statement below:

I’m pleased to announce that Reena Ninan has been named America This Morning and World News Now co-anchor, joining T.J. Holmes.

Reena has done a terrific job filling in on the overnight broadcasts, delivering the programs’ signature mix of breaking news, lively conversation, and quirky, fun reports to our very loyal audience. In addition to her anchor duties, she will also report across all our broadcasts and digital platforms.

Reena is an accomplished and versatile journalist who has reported around the world and across the U.S. She began her career at ABC News in the DC Bureau in 2012. Since then, she has traveled with the President to Asia and with Secretary Clinton to the Middle East. She reported on the aftermath of the Moore, OK tornado and the final weeks of Nelson Mandela’s life. And, just last week, she covered Al Shabaab’s devastating attack on Kenya’s Garissa University.

When she’s not working, Reena is an ambitious amateur chef and is currently trying to perfect her mother's trademark fish curry. She speaks fluent Malayalam (the dialect from her family’s home state in Kerala in India) and studied Arabic and Hebrew. In her off-hours, she loves spending time with her four-year-old son, Jack; her two-and-a half-year-old daughter, Kate; and her husband, Kevin, who is a writer currently working on a book about China.

A skilled journalist with a wide range of experience, I’m delighted she’s joining our tireless teams at America This Morning and World News Now.

Please join me in congratulating Reena on her new role.
