Shooting At Wayne Community College Kills 1

1 Dead In Community College Shooting

Police were searching the Wayne Community College campus in Goldsboro, North Carolina on Monday after a former student armed with a rifle shot and killed a school employee.

Wayne County Office of Emergency Services told NBC News that one person was shot dead near the school library. The victim, a school employee identified as Ron Lane, was the school's print shop operator.

"This is not a random situation. It is an isolated situation," Maj. Tom Effler of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office told CNN.

Authorities swept campus buildings and the surrounding area for the shooter, according to CNN. All buildings on campus are reportedly clear, and students were evacuated.

Sheriff's deputies are still searching for their primary suspect, Kenneth Stancil. The former student may have worked under Lane at the print shop, and he's still at large, CNN reports. The suspect is described as a bald, white male, 5-foot-11-inches tall, with a tattoo over his left eye and a goatee. He believed to be wearing a blue jacket and light-colored pants.

The News-Argus shared photos from the scene.
