A deadly 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal on Saturday. The immense quake, the most powerful to hit Nepal in over 80 years, left more than a thousand people dead across several countries, reduced entire neighborhoods to rubble and triggered an avalanche on Mount Everest.

Harrowing photos and videos coming out of the region show people in Nepal banding together to recover victims of the quake amid utter devastation.
