Police Officer Couldn't Attend His Daughter's Graduation, So His 'Brothers And Sisters In Blue' Took His Place

Arizona Cops Show The True Meaning Of 'Family'

Arizona police officer Shawn Prinkey is overseas serving in the military, and he couldn’t attend his daughter Sophia’s kindergarten graduation ceremony.

Luckily, Sophia didn’t have to worry about a lack of support on her big day. Her dad’s “brothers and sisters in blue” were there in full force to cheer her on.

A photograph shared on the City of Mesa Police Department’s Facebook page went viral this week. The photo, uploaded Tuesday, shows a group of police officers at the little girl’s graduation.

The officers said they "surprised" the girl at the event.

“[We] decided to step up and let Shawn’s family know that we are here for them,” said the caption to the photo. “Stay safe Shawn and Godspeed.”

Many netizens have praised the police officers for taking the time to support Prinkey's family.

"This just gives me goosebumps. What a wonderful thing to do," wrote one Facebook user Tuesday.

"I saw this on the news and it brought me to tears. I am the wife of a National Guard soldier with two small children. I hope you know that you did an unforgettable thing for this little girl and her family," wrote another.
