Scott Walker Suggests He May Skip Florida Primary To Let Jeb Bush And Marco Rubio Destroy Each Other

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) suggested Tuesday that, if he decides to run for president, his campaign would sit out the Florida Republican presidential primary and let the Sunshine State's two native sons -- Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio -- duke it out in the expensive political market.

"If we get in as a candidate, we're going to make a strong play in Iowa," Walker said in an interview with radio host Laura Ingraham. "Actually the main thing being around the country if we chose to get in, I don't think there's a state we wouldn't play in, other than maybe Florida where Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio are -- listen some of the polls are essentially tied and they're going to eat up a lot of that financial advantage that Gov. Bush is going to have."

The midwestern governor, who, along with the well-funded Bush, is considered an early frontrunner for the Republican nomination, noted that the winner will need to spend somewhere upwards of the sum Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) committed in his 2014 re-election campaign: $100 million.

"It won't be that much but a good chunk of that will be gone after the Florida primary," Walker said.

Florida will hold a winner-take-all primary in March, increasing the influence of its 99 delegates in what is shaping up to be a very crowded Republican presidential field. To make matters worse for Bush and Rubio, the former governor of Florida's young protogé, their campaigns will likely compete for the same pool of donors and volunteers.

While Walker has not yet announced his 2016 intentions, he told Ingraham on Tuesday that he would do so next month "after our state budget is done."
