An Ohio man badly beaten after confronting robbers stealing from his community center has received a tidal wave of support online.

Ronald Moon Jr., of Cincinnati, posted a heart-wrenching video Wednesday describing the events that led to his face and body getting covered in cuts and welts.

"This is the hardest video I will ever make," Moon says in the video. He describes his struggles turning his father's old house into a community center for his neighborhood, despite robbers constantly breaking in to the residence.

"Today, I came across the people that [have been] breaking in there," he says. "This is what they did to me."

Moon shows his wounds, including cuts to his back and arms.

"I want to do something good for my people," he says through tears. "I'm tired of struggling, I'm sick of it. I'm just trying to do the best that I can for my people. ... I'm tired of seeing this hurt."

Moon says he repeatedly asked the attackers why they were hurting him, but "they couldn't say. They don't know."

On his GoFundMe page for the community center, Moon said he was attacked by three men and two women.

"I am in good health and my wounds will heal in time, but the goal to offer this neighborhood a resource it can benefit from remains my primary focus," the page reads.

Moon's video quickly gained traction on Reddit, and in just 14 hours, he had already received more than $35,000 in donations. Moon hopes to use the community center for a variety of purposes, including cultural education, gardening, computer classes, yoga and meditation.

Moon could not be immediately reached for comment.

"The pain we feel is real," Moon says in his video. "The hurt we feel is real. But I still love all, all my people. I love everyone. I love you."
