The First Synopsis Of 'Batman V Superman' Hints At A 'New Threat'

We don't know a ton about Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: The Dawn of Justice," but now we have what Collider claims is the first synopsis of the film.

The Huffington Post has reached out to Warner Bros., but confirmation was not immediately received. Until then, we can pick apart just what the new details may entail. According to the synopsis, a "new threat" arises and puts the world in even more danger:

Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

Who could this new threat be? Is it Lex Luthor? Or perhaps Doomsday? Last month, journalist Umberto Gonzalez stirred the on-going rumors that supervillain Doomsday would appear in the film. For those unfamiliar with the comics, Doomdsay is responsible for (spoiler alert!) Superman's demise. However, Warner Bros. has yet to confirm the villain's appearance.

After sharing 21-seconds of footage from the new film in April, Snyder tweeted the first official trailer a week early after it leaked online. "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" will star Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman. The film will also feature Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Jesse Eisenberg, Gal Gadot, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, Scoot McNairy and Jason Momoa. "Batman v Superman" opens March 25, 2016.
