White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said putting a Texas police officer on leave after he tackled a girl and pointed a gun at two boys at a pool party was a "prudent thing” to do.
At a press briefing on Tuesday, Earnest said he didn't know if President Barack Obama had seen the viral video from the pool party, which showed Cpl. Eric Casebolt pinning a black girl in a bathing suit to the ground and pulling his gun on other teens. Earnest did say Obama learned of the situation while he was in Germany attending the Group of Seven summit.
Earnest said Casebolt's actions could be "detrimental" to the relationship between law enforcement and local communities.
“This guy was just out of control,” Jahi Bakari said at a press conference on Monday.
"He shouldn't keep his job, and I’m not going to stop until he is fired," Bakari added.
