Secret Service Evacuates Reporters During White House Press Briefing

The Secret Service interrupted the daily White House press briefing on Tuesday to evacuate the White House.

After the evacuation, dogs began searching the briefing room, CNBC reported. The briefing room was evacuated after someone called in a bomb threat to the Metropolitan Police Department, who then relayed the threat to the Secret Service, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters on Tuesday.

Brian Leary, a Secret Service spokesman, said in a statement that the threat had been cleared. The threat, Leary said, was limited to the briefing room and did not affect other sections of the White House.

The White House press corps was temporarily moved to the South Court auditorium during the evacuation, but was allowed to reenter the Brady briefing room approximately 30 minutes after the evacuation, and the briefing resumed shortly thereafter.
