Pope Francis Sends Blessing To Young Athlete Fighting Leukemia

Even in the midst of a journey to Latin America, Pope Francis took a moment on Sunday to send a message of hope to a young Argentinian athlete who has leukemia.

"I'm praying for you. May Jesus accompany you, give you strength and brings you back to health," the pope said, according to Rome Reports.

Lichu Zeno, the young man to whom Pope Francis addressed his message, is a 25-year-old rugby player and medical student. He is on the waiting list for a bone marrow transplant and has launched an awareness campaign through social media to encourage people to donate blood and bone marrow.

Zeno is seen smiling in a Facebook profile photo, holding a sign that reads: "Donate marrow, it's in your blood."
